Pecca recently welcomed a research team from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) to explore a potential collaboration on an aviation-focused research project.
UniKL is a MARA-owned technical university whose Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (MIAT) is among the nation’s leading aviation and aerospace institutions, recognised by both the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Bringing that research strength together with Pecca’s aviation manufacturing expertise is what makes this engagement promising.
The proposed collaboration centres on the fabrication and engineering development of an aircraft seat magazine pocket, combining genuine aviation-grade leather with an enhanced material developed by UniKL.
During the visit, discussions covered the fabrication process, manufacturing considerations and the engineering aspects of developing the application. The engagement gave the UniKL team a closer understanding of Pecca’s capabilities and allowed both sides to exchange technical knowledge and explore how their respective expertise could complement one another.
The collaboration pairs UniKL’s research and material development with Pecca’s experience in leather manufacturing, precision fabrication and aviation applications. As Malaysia’s only EASA-certified (POA C2) aircraft seat producer, Pecca brings proven production expertise and aviation standards to the project, while UniKL brings material innovation. With both parties working to internationally recognised aviation standards, the collaboration has a strong common foundation to build on. Pecca values the opportunity to work alongside academic and research institutions to exchange knowledge, support innovation and open new possibilities within the aviation industry.
