The Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii) successfully conducted a Genba visit to Pecca Leather Sdn Bhd in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur as part of the MARiiShare initiative on September 22, 2025. This initiative is was organised by MARiiShare, a programme designed to promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and professional development among MARii and Pecca’s staff.

MARiiShare is an internal knowledge-sharing platform initiated by MARii to cultivate a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth. The programme provides an opportunity for employees from both organizations to share insights, expertise, and experiences through presentations, workshops, and interactive sessions. By fostering open knowledge exchange, MARiiShare supports MARii’s vision of becoming a knowledge-driven organisation, where every staff member contributes to innovation and growth.

The Genba visit to Pecca Leather represented an extension of this initiative for staff to experience the manufacturing process with directly shows them the production process and the practicality of the industry. This allows them to learn and experience real-world automotive manufacturing environments with the latest technology applied during the manufacturing process. The Japanese term “Genba”, meaning “the real place,” embodies the essence of this approach in order to learn directly from industry operations to enhance practical understanding and technical appreciation.

The Genba visit to Pecca Leather extended this initiative by allowing staff members to experience the manufacturing process first-hand. This provides them with an insight and exposes directly to the real-world production environments and also showcasing to them industry practices. This hands-on experience enabled participants to observe the latest technologies applied in leather seat manufacturing and also to gain a deeper appreciation of the operational realities within Malaysia’s automotive industry.

The visit also marked a meaningful engagement between MARii and Pecca Leather, underscoring the importance of industry collaboration and knowledge transfer.

By combining experiential learning with on-site exposure, MARii continues to build a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within its organisation by supporting Malaysia’s vision of a more competitive and technology-driven automotive ecosystem.
