KUALA LUMPUR, 11 June 2024, Pecca Leather Sdn. Bhd. being the largest automotive leather upholstery in the Malaysia has been nominated as a finalist for the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri 2024 (AKI) also known as the Industry Excellence Award. The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) played a significant role in recognising companies that demonstrates their excellence in their management practices, quality of products and services, and continuously adding value to their stakeholders. The award, which has undergone numerous restructurings over the years, is now a biennial event with refined categories and added benefits.
About Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri 2024 (AKI)
The Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) was established by (MITI) to promote excellence and to stimulate healthy and positive competition within the manufacturing and services industry. The evaluation process is based on the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) developed by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). This framework is used to assess the performance of participating organisations, identify current and future opportunities, and encourage improvements by fostering positive competition among participants.
The key objectives are to:
- Recognise the most outstanding companies in the manufacturing and services industries;
- Recognise companies with business plans to increase value-added products or services; and
- Recognise companies with best practices that render them as inspiring role models to other companies.
Pecca Group’s initial and core business focuses on manufacturing high-quality automotive leather upholstery, serving consumers from the region. The company also invested in the automotive accessory business. Pecca Leather’s emphasis on quality, craftsmanship, and safety has secured its position at the top of the car seat upholstery market supply chain in Malaysia, giving customers a sense of security when considering seat upholstery options.
With its strong reputation, the company has expanded and grown to over 900 employees, primarily focusing on manufacturing and operations. Additionally, Pecca Leather plans to explore new business opportunities and enter new markets to boost its reputation and sales growth.
Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2024 Finalist Nomination
Pecca Leather was honoured to be nominated as the finalist, having met the entry requirements stipulated by the Malaysia Companies Act, 2016. The company has met the benchmark requirements for the Manufacturing Sector Excellence Awards in Category 3, which includes being a domestic company with a sales turnover of more than RM100 million during the financial year ended 2023.
Pecca Leather has actively participated in the evaluation process:
- Reaching out to AKI and attending workshops;
- Submitting all relevant documentation before the closing date;
- Pitching to AKI and hosting visitation by AKI evaluators at Pecca’s plant.
